october twenty-ninth

So here's the story. On Tuesday, Mr. Downey was talking about the competitive monopoly of jeans. 26 of the 30 some kids were wearing jeans, including myself, a rarity if you know me. Anyway, I don't know how it came up, but someone said wearing a tie, nice shirt, and jeans was tacky and dorky. I sought to prove that wrong. So I did the next day: Wednesday. I also wore this crazy hat that a lot of people liked, but, I must say, I am not particularly fond of it. I looked like a European paper boy, hence the newspaper in the picture.
Close enough. Tomorrow's going to be interesting, to say the least. It is, afterall, Halloween.

Skin Disease

Friday of Red Ribbon Week at school: dress in red day. Being me, I decided to go against the norm and not dress in red, rather, I painted my body red and wore white. I said it was a rash. One did hardcore believed me. I felt kinda bad. Whatever. As I write this, my brother Connor says I look "really sunburned." I don't blame him. A bunch of people said that. I also got the "Oompa Loompa" response. Alrighty. Just another friday. This next couple weeks are going to be nuts. No doubt in my mind.

BLOOD

Pretty cool day. I donated a pint of blood. I feel pretty good. The people working there really enjoyed my outfit. It says "TAKE MY BLOOD" btw. It's kind of hard to read in the picture. Sorry about that. I ate a "hearty" meal of a Grilled Stuft Burrito from Taco Bell, then dos tacos once I got home. Something pretty funny: when you donated blood at Royal High School, you received a free t-shirt, always a plus. Check it out.
See anything wrong? Oh baby.....someone made a mistake. But, what do you expect? We're all humans! I made a mistake similar to that a week ago: see previous post.
Today was some intense filming as we worked from right after school (3 pm) to 9:30 pm. A good six and a half hours of work. I got kinda frustrated at some certain things that I will not go into detail about, but you can make inferences and try to guess what I was frustrated about. Good luck. We got some sweet shots though. Pretty insanely legit if you ask me. Just wait and see. You will.
To honor BLOOD, watch this video. You'll enjoy it.

Relatively Irrelevant: Weekandy

So I went to school on Friday in spirit clothes. I've never done that before. Plus, I was wearing my royal brigade shirt, something else I have never done before. Pretty crazy. People seemed to like it though. For instance, I walked into the choir room during second period to deliver a dvd and the teacher exclaimed, "Wow, I don't think you have enough school spirit." I didn't get what she was talking about as I forgot I was wearing what I was wearing. Lovely.
Then that night was non-uniform night for drumline=STOKED. So much better, I couldn't believe it. I actually had a pretty good time talking with people 'cause i wasn't in my stupid uniform. For the record, I know there was a few people who wanted to talk to me while I was walking around, sorry if I ignored you. There were a few people at the game that wouldn't have come under normal circumstances, so I felt they were the primary social event. Don't worry. In other news, our team got killed. I wasn't the best game of the year, you can be sure of that.

Alright so Saturday=the Royal Classic.
Holy cow, what a day. So we performed twice, doing the exact same thing twice, twice. Did you hear me? Twice. We had to dress, do our show, then play for awards. Twice, twice. Pretty crazy if you ask me. It was a long day to say the least. It was a good time though, one of the better Royal Classic's I've helped/performed at. So here's the story. I was asked to design the cover of the program, so I sent a rough draft in with an accidental spelling error. I quickly fixed it, but because it was a rough draft I figured it was okay. To make a long story short, it wasn't. They printed my rough draft! So hundreds and hundreds of programs went out into the world yesterday with a phat spelling error right on the front of the stupid thing. I felt like such an idiot. Moving on. Evening performance. Senior get to wear kilts. Interesting situation. Let me explain. Traditional kilt wearing often times involves no undergarments, especially in the Scotland. This quote is directly taken from Wikipedia.com: "in some circumstances underwear is prohibited by military regulations." Look at that: prohibited. So, it's always an interesting time when the seniors put on their kilts. Not many people do it. Most either chicken out from fear of falling or being checked. I figured this is the only time I'm going to wear a kilt in my entire life and if I am going to in fact wear a kilt, I will be the most Scottish I could possibly be. So me and four others in the band went for it. Little did I know, while drumline was away warming up, the four others got caught and had to change. This left me. The only senior in the entire band being a traditional Scot. I am proud to say the least. I have left my legacy upon the Royal Highland Brigade and I sure hope the seniors next year will be able to wear the kilts as the 2009 seniors have.

Sunday: I began filming with my buddies from "White Washed." We are doing the sequel. It's gonna blow your mind. Pretty intense story line let me tell you. If you didn't already know, this is "White Washed" Watch it. You won't regret it. And then you'll be able to watch the sequel without missing a beat! Hooray! So anyway: a good time. Then, to a leadership BBQ at my youth pastor's house. We had some tight discussion about prayer and the emotional and physchological aspects of it. Pretty heavy stuff. I really enjoyed it, and got a whole lot of out. Plus, I ate about 12 pieces of DELICIOUS tri-tip my youth paster Jimbo cooked up. Oh, I can taste the savory goodness in my mouth as I type. Wonderful. Overall, night well spent.

This blog post reminds me of Kyle Dietz' blog entries. He's got some pretty good stuff and a whole lot to say. I have enormous respect for this kid, as he pours out his heart for the world to see, fighting the battles of modern day Christianity. He's settin' a mighty fine example for a working Christian that's for sure. Keep up the good work.

Starving Artist

Today I was a starving artist. I am mad that I did not grab a paintbrush and stick it on top of my ear all day. However, I did take a pencil and stick it on top of my ear all day. Nobody probably noticed it, actually the person who did NOT notice it was Kelsey Kras. She told me to put it on my ear. I was starving today. I wore some sweet "RealD" glasses that my sister got at the movies when she saw "Journey to the Center of the Earth," a 3d film. It was expensive and she got a complimentary pair of glasses. They were pretty cool I guess. They freaked all sorts of people out because the lens acted exactly as 3d glasses should.

I don't have much news, except for I have lots of graphic projects I have to do, most as favors for people. Maybe I should stop excepting these jobs. Hopefully they will turn out nice and be visually pleasing to every eye that directs it's attention towards it. That means I have done my job, the job I was hired, rather asked, to do.

By the way, I spent way to much time modifying my picture for today. I hope you like it. After all, I am doing this for you.

ADDITION: Tonight was the Fast Food Frenzy at youth group at Simi Community. Boy was it a good time. Highlight: Jack in the Box, talking about Gabe's extra extra large root beer float from A&W. Ripped, chained men in the basement scooping mounds of ice cream for the sweaty strong woman to give to Gabe. Wonderful. So insanely funny. But it get's better. Then, good ol' Neil walks up, just when we are finishing the root beer float convo and sings the Grease Lighting song while doing a little jig. We all look at him in utter disbelief, completely disoriented, when, suddenly, Scott lets outs a monstrous laugh. The table erupts, so funny, in fact I'm chuckling as I write this. I can't believe that even happened. So funny. THEN, while we are laughing, everybody in the restarant is yelling "WHO IS 309!" Of course this just gets good ol' Nate started. I'm gripping my nose as I write this, soo funny. We start talking about Jimmy and Debbie being power mongers and getting down to business to who this "309" is. I can't even explain it. Here are a few pictures to sum it up. I can't believe it, it was so funny, yet my words can not even begin to relay the comidic value Jack in the Box had upon Morgan Lott, Sean Cook, Scott Weir, Nathan Hernandez, and Gabe Kirkpatrick.

The Day After

Ok, so you may recognize this particular outfit from this post http://emliv.blogspot.com/2008/08/august-20-2008-wednesday.html
This is okay. I wore this in the summer to a day at drumline, I never wore it to school during the school year, so it's all good. Anyway,

The people have voted. Yesterday, I promoted a poll that described my outfits and the people voted for what i would wear to the senior poll announcements. In an overwhelming victory, the 80's tennis outfit destroyed the other competitors. Therefore, I am wearing my Björn Borg garb. Last night was probably the greatest in a while. First, I walked into the mpr to a room full, let me reiterate that, FULL, room of seniors. I had no idea there was near that many people in my class. Anyway, I walk in through an open door, never asked where I came from or how I got in. I grabbed my pizza, went to a few friends, then I decided to go change into my "best dressed" garb - 80's tennis 101. So I walk out the same door I came in; however, this time, I walk past a chilling Mr. Houghton who instantly demands where I was going. I told him, calmly, and he told me to go around to the other side so the people knew what I was doing. I had no idea! I could have gotten into the senior dinner for free, even though I already did.

So I went to my car and changed. I'm not gonna lie, I was getting pumped. This outfit really brings the good out of me. When I finish, I grab my sweet "Jack Kramer Autograph" edition racket, and head back to the mpr. As I walk in this is what I hear: "For best dressed, Morgan Lott!" I heard this as I was walking in. So I raised my racket above my head and yelled. All of a sudden the 300 some seniors (thanks Kelsey Kras) in the room turned their head to the stage-right side and looked at me. I've never gotten that much applause in my life. It was pretty exhilerating. I also enjoyed Mo-Mo's constant waves and shout-out's to me, even while the attention was on the other winners.

That's my story. I hope you were there to experience it. I want to the thank the Royal High School senior class for voting for me and participating in this tradition called "Senior Polls." I am honored to represent Royal High School as the best dressed male. And it just makes me think that starting up "collared shirt Wednesday" three years ago was definitely not a mistake. In fact, it has defined who I am. It is my pride and glory. It's probably what I'll be remembered for. So be it.

The way I see it, the senior dinner was the first sign of the end of the year. We, the seniors, are going to graduate and move to bigger and better things, pretty quickly too. The memories will last, friends will last, but new better memories and new better friends are just waiting to be made. I hope high school will not be forgotten though. I know I've learned a lot. Farewell class of '09. You are greatly appreciated. I'll scratch your back if you scratch mine, if you know what I mean.

P.s. I know you are all waiting in anticipation for a picture. There will definitely be one, it just will come later. Stop fretting.

P.s.s. Your wishes have been fulfilled.

It's time to vote!

I've been nominated "best dressed" for senior polls. What should I wear for the picture? Vote now!

In other news, right when i walked onto campus, I got "hey, mr. rogers!" I thought this was very funny because I bought that sweater precicely to be Mr. Rogers on Mr. Rogers day last year. I think that is very very good.
