Sports Coat

The Olympics are taking place.  I enjoy the Olympics.  I'm not really sure what else to write because I don't want to sound foolish.  I enjoy the Olympics.

I don't have much to talk about today because this week, including today, has been surprisingly uneventful.  This may be wrong, but fact is, I can't pinpoint any event worth writing about.  Shame.

In other news, FORMSPRING.  Last week, I wrote a little bit about Formspring: "I honestly don't what the point is, well, obviously it is to ask questions, but is it worthwhile and beneficial to the masses?  I don't know."  I still don't know what the point is, but I do know this: Formspring is oddly compelling.  I'm not sure what it is.  Maybe it is the fact that the quality of the questions asked say a lot about 1. the person asking 2. what the person asking thinks about said person and 3. how the said person portrays him/herself.  I read a little blurb online that claimed that formspring.me will be the cause of many teenage suicides.  I think this is pessimistic, and although possible, unlikely.  If used correctly, formspring could be a beneficial and motivational tool to encourage, congratulate, and recognize others.  However, formspring could also be a discouraging and depressing tool that humiliates, embarrasses, and angers others.  We'll see how it goes.  This is the internet in 2010, the no mercy rule has been in place for a while now.  People are different online, saying stuff, doing stuff that they ("they" includes me) may not even think to say or do in person.  The internet, it's busy.

That said, ask a question!  Any question.  I will answer with honesty and precision.  Go ahead, give it a shot.

Below: If you read the first question, you'll know what is going on.  I have decided that I will post a selection of questions with answers gathered throughout the week to the blog.  I may choose the questions randomly, with specific intent, or because I am pleased with the creativity.  I'm not going to tell you (normally) which of these categories the questions fall under because I'm lazy.  Enjoy, questionize, and maybe you'll be on here next week.

Are you going to post these questions with answers on your blog?

This is a good question, a question good enough that I do not have an answer. We'll have to see.

So far, what would you say your favorite college experience is?

This is a tough question for two reasons: 1. I have a horrible immediate memory. 2. I'm answering this late at night. A combination of the two create a problem.

However, one of my favorite things about college is the night life. It may be 10 pm and someone says "Let's go to Hollywood." It's a done deal. I like how random stuff happens and random times during the day and night. In-n-Out runs? You bet.

If a bear and a gorilla fought, which on would win?

It all depends. A bear would win a bar fight, but a gorilla would win in a boxing match.

Do you like big bellies?

I haven't decided. Big bellies can be cool (what would Santa Claus look like without a big belly?) and they sometimes come in handy (Kung Fu Panda), but I'm sure it can be a pain to "carry" the "big" around sometimes.

Nevertheless, I've never had a "big" belly, so I wouldn't be the one to ask. Sorry.

What about baby bunnies?

I like baby bunnies just fine. However, I'd be down for an adult jack rabbit any day. They are faster, bigger, and can pack a punch unlike a baby bunny can.

You can beat that, I know you can.  Here it is again, in case you don't feel like scrolling up:

So that's it.  I tried to make up the space I'd normally use with other content.  I may have failed, let me know.  I hope you have a wonderful day today.

I have been listening to a bunch of reggae lately, no clue why.  I like reggae though, it da jam.  If you listen to any solid reggae artists, share the love!

Tan-ish

I just made a realization about something.  While in college, I have wondered why I have less to write about and, as of two minutes ago, and realized why.  In high school. there is as school day.  You are at school for a stretch of time whether five hours or all day; either way, school is continuous.  That said, high school brought upon a lot of experiences, random happenings through campus, walking the halls, classes one after another.  In college, that doesn't happen.  Everything is spread out, classes aren't lined up, there is no "passing period."  Yeah, there is a fare share of random happenings, but not enough to get significantly mentioned in the Wednesday blog.  Don't get me wrong, I love college.  The stuff that goes on here is far superior to anything that happens during the day in high school.  However, this stuff I mention does not happen before I write this on Wednesday's.  This may read like a jumbled mess and I apologize if this is true.  It probably does not even make sense.  In a way, this is okay, 'ey?

In other news, April 20th will bring about BLUE SKY NOISE, the highly-anticipated third release by the band Circa Survive.  I am absolutely positively amped for this record.  I am actually at a loss of words, because I don't believe my words on this webpage will do my anticipation justice.  This is what I'll say: Circa Survive has been putting out INCREDIBLE short videos online documenting their progress through the writing/recording/mixing/mastering/etc process that has created a buzz, the type a phatty bumble bee makes, that just gets me going.  Their music is so creative and unique, like the yellow and black of a bumble bee that sets it apart from all other insects. It's going to be good.

In other news, I had a conversation with Mr. Beau Akers earlier this week over standard text massaging (which was an abnormality, I usually do not conversate over standard text messaging) and now transfer to webtext:

Beau: You rock my socks off bro

Morgan: Dude I can't even where socks around you bro.
You're like the warm sand at the beach.

B: Man, its that sand between them toes;
if socks were on who knows?

M: With socks on, good luck getting the sandy feel.
With socks on you'll still slip on a banana peel.

B: The texture of yellow, harms a fellow,
yet the warmth of sand, is forever grand.

M: Sand is rather grand
      Bananas promote slippage
      I am still barefoot

B: Beach bums bury barefeet beneath the sand,
and barefoot you and i shall stand.

M: Can crayons color colors without a careful creator?
No, the barefoot beach bums bring bomb brandishings for their brothers.

B: That kicked! Cant get much more creative than two minds memorating fantastic lines.

'twas a good time, like eating limes.  I am really quite unsure why I posted this.  I guess we'll just have to see if it is a hit or miss.

In other news, I have a video for you. The New Orleans Saints beat the Indianapolis Colts in the Super Bowl very recently and this video shows how true fans react.  I was surprised how I reacted to this and I decided I really like this video; I can't decide for you though, so you'll have to watch and discover.

There's something about it....

In other news, I heard/have seen about this new website called formspring.me.  I honestly don't what the point is, well, obviously it is to ask questions, but is it worthwhile and beneficial to the masses?  I don't know.  Either way, it is relatively new and I decided to create a profile.  We'll have to see if this catches on.  I really have no idea if it will.  If Twitter can create as much havoc as it has, formspring sure has a chance.

That said, in the box below, you can ask me any question you would like.  I believe these are the rules.  So go ahead and ask ask ask away.

And that's it.

One Heart EP

I know I've been talking about this a lot lately, but hey, it's something that matters.  As you may know, the January 12th earthquake in Haiti left approximately 1 million people homeless and the country in ruins.  On Valentine's Day, the One Heart EP was released to the public.  For a simple donation of $3, or more, or less, not only will you be contributing to World Vision's efforts in the rebuilding Haiti, you will also receive a 4 song cd by Biola University's new chapel band: Quiet Coyote.   100% of the proceeds are going out into the world, an aid to serve the nation of Haiti.  Haiti continues to be in a great deal of need, but we can keep praying, serving, and providing.

For all of you who are not a Biola Student, you have options:  If you would like a cd, please visit the website below:

http://quietcoyote.bandcamp.com

On the website, you can purchase the physical cd and it will be mailed to you or you can download the EP straight to your computer.  Also available are free internet streams of the tracks for listening.

Also, if you would just like to solely donate to the cause, please click the button below and follow the steps:

We really appreciate your help and together, we can make a difference and extend Christ’s love to Haiti.

Yesterday, I had the privilege of joining the musicians of Quiet Coyote (Mr. Chase Wagner, Mr. Eric Ford, Ms. Julia Peterson, and special guest Mr. Bobby Walker) at the One Heart booth.  We discovered a number of interesting observations, but, for the sake of time, we ended up playing a continuous set of live music for those walking in and out of the cafeteria.  It was an incredible experience and God worked in ways we could not have fathomed even three days ago.  Thank you all who stopped by!

Crutch

Man, this Wednesday schedule is really a crutch on blog writing. It's the second week of the second semester and I am far from being comfortable with my schedule so we'll have to see how it all works out, with flow, the airy, weightless, feather-like feeling of normality.

Today, I am dressed unlike the majority of the Wednesday's. But, like most, there is a reason and a meaning behind the clothing I decided to wear. If you notice, I am wearing a bright orange shirt. If you notice, the rest features a monotone, gray-scale color scale. An objective of mine, a goal I strive for, is to be a bright color among the dull gray's of society. It's not that I want to be different in all I do, it's that the monotony of the styles, popularity, media, entertainment is becoming overbearing. One of my goals is to be set apart from the norm, in both my actions/ attitudes as I strive to demonstrate the love of Christ among the secular world, and through my work in the arts. It's a relatively confusing thought process and, honestly, I haven't figured it all out yet. I feel like I sound conceded and full of myself as I try to proclaim myself as the difference to normality. I can assure you that I try to be as selfless as possible, striving to love others and be interested in the lives of people other than myself. I must admit, it is definitely not the easiest thing to do, but I feel like we all, as humans, struggle with this from time to time.

Sunday is Valentine's Day. If you are a student at Biola University, you have an opportunity to help Haiti by means of donation. The new chapel band at Biola has recorded a 4 song EP that will be for sale outside the cafeteria beginning on Valentine's Day, and 100% of the proceeds are going to World Vision to be used in their Haiti relief efforts. I highly encourage you to check it out and help Haiti heal.

Haiti is still in need and we can help.

If I had more time I would definitely talk about a few topics, such as I have recently been absurdly enthralled by the concept that when you are drinking water, the water is going into you.  This sounds absurd, that's why I used "absurdly" in the last sentence, and I guess it applies to all drinkable liquids and edible foods.  Just one of life's little mysteries.

Have a wonderful day ladies and gentlemen.  Go out and tell your friend why you are their friend.

Fabl

Things might be changin' around this here parts.  But, that's for me to know and you to find out.  Who knows?  Maybe there won't be any change whatsoever.

Fact is, the weekday "Wednesday" is now the busiest day of the week.  Here's the breakdown:
  8:30-9:30 CLASS
  9:30-10:30 Optional Chapel
       MEAL TIME
  12:00-1:15 CLASS
  3:00-5:50 CLASS
        MEAL TIME
  7:00-10:00 CLASS

That's a lot of time I do not have to do whatever I want.  SO, you can maybe figure out what the change may involve...

But who knows, maybe I'll find time, like I am right now...

The picture signifies something.  Try and figure it out...

Here it is: in the picture, there is clearly a wall in the way of the subject.  This is a very literal symbol.  It symbolizes something.

Think about it.  This does not only apply to me.  We all run into hypothetical walls.  How will you get past it?

I have something for you:

One Heart EP - Haiti Relief from Morgan Lott on Vimeo.

"On January 12th, the earth quaked beneath the country of Haiti, resulting in extreme damage to every aspect of the already poverty-stricken nation.
It’s estimated that 1 million Haitians have been left homeless from this disaster. They are without food, water, shelter, or proper sanitation. These 1 million Haitians are men, women, and children- image bearers of their creator. Each one has been created by God for a purpose and an eternal destiny. In this moment, Haiti is overwhelmed.

As Biola Students- Disciples of Christ- we are called to run to the broken. feed them, clothe them, and we have to do whatever we can to help.

We’ve decided to quickly record a four song worship EP that were going to be selling for 3 dollars- 100% going to support World Vision’s relief efforts on the ground in Haiti. The Ep is going to be available outside the caf starting on Valentines day.

Together we can make a difference and extend Christ’s love to Haiti."

The words above/in the video explain pretty much every aspect I would even attempt to explain.  Just a couple: I'm not in the band putting out this EP, so this is not self-promotion; I fully support this drive to help Haiti in their time of need.  Also, the video is specific to Biola, but if you want to contribute, I'll be posting other ways you can participate shortly.

Either way, Haiti is struggling and we have the means to help.

In other news, I have a couple videos for you and they are rather interesting, perhaps random, but incredible in their own way.

1irst: some solid driving.  Reminds me...

2econd: The Death Swing: looks like a good time:

That's all I have and I apologize. Hopefully it won't always be like this, yes? Unless you like it like this...

Have a brilliant day.

I'm not sure why those videos are so small. Fullscreen them if you need to.
