August 20, 2008 - WEDNESDAY

It's Wednesday again, and boy do I like this day. I decided to dress like tennis player. And just to add to the fun, today is short shorts day at drumline, so it fits perfectly. Because I don't have any short shorts (I need to get some!) and I asked my sister if she had any normal shorts for her because, most likely, they would be pretty short on me. After I tried a couple of them on, I discovered my legs are really white and that these red basketball shorts did the trick. Now, if only I had the red, white, and blue sweatband they gave to the dude basketball winners at Hume. Oh well.

Oh, btw. My dad says I look like these guys:

John McEnroe

Björn Borg

These guys are now my fashion go-to's. These guys are brilliant. Almost as brilliant as this guy, this guy just hasn't figured it out yet:

First Wednesday Entry......holy mackerel

Today, August 13, 2008, is the first Wednesday I'm dressing up for because I'm at school all day. Awesome. To clarify, I have drumline everyday from 12:30 to 8:30 with a short dinner break, hence this entry. Anyway, I really like this "outfit." Last night I tore up those nice dress pants because I already had a torn up shirt. Pretty stinkin' awesome if you ask me. I think I'll wear this one again sometime during the year.

Just a day at the beach

So today I went to Zuma and took my camera along. I had this brilliant idea that I would wear my sweet multi-color sweatband and mirrored aviators and take hundreds of pictures at the beach. So I did, and here they are. Have fun. Look at them all. I dare you. If you do, I'll be impressed. Actually, you know what, don't. I don't want you to waste your time looking at my face and my golden locks surfing through the wind. I guess if you really want to, go for it. But make sure you let me know which one is your absolute favorite. Kapish?

O'Connor Bros Senior Pictures

My dress antics have begun. Two weeks ago, before Hume, I took my yearbook senior pics at the O'Connor facility in Simi. I get in there in my tan suit with sweet elbow pads and beautifully matching tie and I sit down. (Quick shout out to Scott Weir: this was his suit and tie. Thanks man, I couldn't have done it without you) I get a couple of weird looks, especially because, as my dad puts it, I look like an Oxford professor:

See the resemblance? I went for the FAT windsor tie, 70s style baby. and I didn't wear the glasses, naturally. Anyway, the photographer said I looked really sharp and that I had a really nice coat. He asked where I got it and I said "I got it at the thrift store with a friend." He was amazed and proclaimed "wow, that is better than the coats we have here." So the truth comes out. He also was astonished I tied my own knot. I guess I don't know my own talent. Well, I am already stoked for the yearbook, because I am not going to be wearing black! I'm excited.

Beginnings

This is the start of a senior year recognition of Edward Morgan Lott IV. During sophomore year of high school, a couple of buddies and I decided to dedicate Wednesdays for collared shirts. Around 8 of us carried this on for a few months, but it died. However, I have continued this tradition to this day. I wear ties every Wednesday and often mess around with my clothing habits. Also, every single holiday, I dress up for it. This blog will keep an photographic account of my "travels" and you will be able to experience the celebration with me. As far as I'm concerned, it is always Wednesday.

Irrelevant: HUME LAKE

Hume Lake '08. One of the greatest weeks of my life, not only b/c of the Hume experience, but also the quality and the intimacy of it. Here's the breakdown:

Sunday: We arrive after a bus breakdown and some miraculous fixings by Jimmy, Pete and others. The opener was insane, the light up suits were by far the best. I loved the rhythm aspect of it. It was like a phat rave. Anyway, that night free time was mediocre and the boys who wanted to paintball failed to sign up in time. Oh well. I thought it was a waste of money anyway.

Monday, Tuesday: So begins the week. The order here is a little skewed. Just read. It all happened, at least you know that much. For a free time, we took out canoes and kayaks and boats and eventually connected them all together, supplying the ripped Nathan Hernandez with the rowing experience of his life. Once we got to the cove, we decided to turn around. Awesome use of a trip. I must say that this was one of the times where I was bored. Once we turned around, the canoes connected to make a phat war canoe. We all rowed in succession and it looked sick. However, we couldn't go straight. oh well.
one of the lunches i decided to sit across from three girls who looked semi interesting. turns out they were and they came with a few of us to the cove. Turns out they became the followers for the week. I saw them everywhere, good 'ol Tara, Hannah, and Rachel. There was also this other girl i saw all the time, but that's beside the point.
Tuesday night after chapel for free time started off pretty boring, but it got better. A group of people from the church went to the lake to "snuggle" as i like to put it. i'm not exactly into that kind of stuff esp. with my sister, who attended. Anyway, a group of us "non-snugglers" just walked around and stuff and eventually ran into those snuggling near the lake. While there, I met the famous Liz "whats the deal" and the shark shirted Kevin. They certainly turned out to be pretty stinkin awesome.

Wednesday:I think this was the basketball tournament day. My team was supposed to be me, Joel, and Mike, but counselors can't play, so we used TJ. We got creamed 11-1 or something. oh well. This is also the day that the Morgan-Dean, Scott-Travis foosball rivaly was born. It certainly was intense. I would just like to remember the game that me and Dean came back from 9-3 to win. That was glorious. We also did some phat blobbing and Noah's Nightmaring. Good stuff. That night was the kajabi can can finals. Epic. I yelled for every single participant, whether they were the first guy out of the high school round, or a woman counselor. This was also the birth of the infamous "Heeeeeeey" you wouldn't get it unless you were there. It was so ill though, thats for sure.

Thursday: Thursday was Little Brown Church day. Awesome. Me, my sis, and my mom got probably 20 people to go with us on this pitly half-mile hike. It became the highlight of everybody's week i'm sure. for secrecy reasons, i refain from mention the small church again. That night was "ark skate" night, in which i did not participate. Instead I hung out with my buddies, played a little foosball, then the famous liz joined the group. We just chilled, talked, and made memories. This was probably my favorite day of the week for the record. Pretty rad.

Friday: This day turned out to be pretty strange to say the least. I got all sorts of people to come play frisbee golf=probably not the best idea. Anyway, it was an alright time although lots of people got pretty frustrated. I ended up PWNING everybody (haha, not to be mean or anything). I hit (?) a 58, 9 under par 67. Thats insane. I was amazed. After that, we went on the lake again in canoes and stuff. It was good relaxing time. that night, our cabin pulled a phat all nighter. It started out with the famous RICH BAKER making a visit to our cabin during our intense cabin discussions. That certainly got things started off good. We played Shindler's List, a legit Nathan Hernandez rendition of hide and seek. My fav was cramming 8 people into the small 20 square foot bathroom and then fooling "Hitler" into thinking i was the only in there. We also layed some sick beats, stomp style. Then we played some tight poker that i owned. we left the cabin at 5 am to go to the sunrise. we got there in pitch blackness then left before the sun arose completely. it was tooo freezing.

Saturday: Time to go. Very sad. There was a bajillion people everywhere with luggage and their stuff and rediculous. I wore my sisters sweet basketball champion sweatband. I felt legit.

Random memories:
I will never ever forget this one. First day of rec, me and travis were joking around about our name "Robo Time" and our slogan "what time is it?!" We were joking about how our teammates were everywhere so we would randomly yell out "what time is it?" and someone would yell back "Robo Time!" so we just got our food in the buffet line and assumed our positions to the cups. I looked at travis, he looked back at me, and he muttered "What time is it?" and right in front of us, our most enerjectic teammate, who we failed to see beforehand, took a monstous step toward us, and SCREAMED "ROBO TIME!!!!!!" funniest thing i have probably ever seen in my entire life.

Walking back to the cabin after Kajabi finals doing the famous "Heeeey." people joined in and it was legit. I led the pack with my flamingo hat.

Coming down to the caf and singing jingle bells. That was pretty awesome. esp. the way people looked at us. you really can see right through blank stares.

the glow stick fiasco in our bathroom. i was not a part of it, but i certainly saw it, and i certainly felt mikes wrath.

Spirtitual: I learned a ton this week. Most of which had surprised me. I was expecting to gain emotional presence in the sight of God. This was definitely not the case. Mr. Neil Mammon and Darin McWatters taught me it really isn't about emotions. Neil was amazing in his knowledge and his ability to virtually answer every question asked. If you want to learn a lot of the stuff I did, check out his website- www.noblindfaith.com. this is legit stuff, fellas. A HUGE aspect of my spiritual growth was the cabin discussions. Almost every single night, our SVCC 3 cabins gathered together and talked about pretty much everything- passion, predestination, hell, revelation, as well as many others. I loved the openess of everybody and the quality of the quesitons asked. These times produced an amazing finish to the week as i saw the lives of my good buddies transformed. Can't exactly beat that.

Overall, Hume Lake '08 was insanely awesome in every single aspect known to man. I will never forget the people, speakers, activities, experiences witnessed at Hume Lake. It's a beautiful thing, you know, this interaction between you, God, in the presence of a thousand other Christians.
